I have not worked brass before and I just wondered it is pretty small the piece is 5”x2” the tip of my 60 v was a bit dull as I did not want to test it on a new one. It looks fine if you don’t stick your face right on it (G)

Steve, Having never worked up the courage to cut any metals;I'm impressed with the results you achieved. How about a few details on thickness, speed, feed, cut depth, etc?
I don't believe I've seen anyones work in Brass on a bot so its new and exciting to me.
I would love to try it and on brass and copper so whatever you did, seems to work pretty well and will only get better as you refine techniques.
Post some of the details so we can get a running start.
Thanks

Steve,
Onsrud has some flat tipped "engraving" v-bits you may want to experiment with. I bought some for acrylic, but haven't used them for metals.

I forgot I did not cut this piece out on the bot it was on my milling machine I only did the engraving. I think the depth was .01 and about 50 ipm I think. this bit was flat tipped (G)

Steve, that looks like a pretty good cut to me. Brass cuts well or crappy depending on the alloy and on the cutter. A good alloy is pretty forgiving - I have used 360 in the past and found it much easier to cut than even the easiest to cut aluminum. The engraving bits I used were from bitsbits.com, there was also a standard 1/4" ballnose and a 1/4" O flute, both Onsrud. I used .07 depth of cut and .25ips XYZ on the engraving, considerably faster on the 3d and 2d cutout.

Nice design and work Grant. On the Bot, correct?

I found if I sped up the speed a bit the cut was smoother. I saw the same thing in some plastic with the small letters.
