I want to make a concrete counter top for a patio project I have going on here. I'd like to know if someone can help either describe to me how to go about profiling (extruding???) a mould insert so I can have a certain type of edge detail? If I could somehow toolpath the attached design using a 1/4" round or 1/2" round bit, then I could just miter the strips and place in the concrete counter form. Sounds great but I do not know how to toolpath something like this. I have attached some drawings to help clarify. Thanks in advance.

I showed the mould detail with sharp edges and then asked about tooling with a round nose bit... there is no necessity for the square inside corner details shown above. Slightly rounded corner details will probably work better with concrete anyway. See attached drawing. thanks.

John,
Post a vector file of the edge (cross section like you have drawn) for the mold and I or someone else can help. How long of moulding do you want and from what size stock?
Do you want toolpaths or a file you can pull into cut3d? If toolpaths, will need to know what size ballnose you have available.

The curved moldings we have done were created as a Solid and exported as a STL file for carving in Cut3D.
If you can post dimensions for the radius and flats, we would be able to create a solid of specified length and export it as an STL in just a few minutes. You can then experiment with cutters in Cut3D / PartWorks 3D until you are happy with the desired result.
Send us an email via the forum as our review of postings can be sporadic due to rush design requests in the mornings.
