Hi Guys -

I am pursuing the obvious on this by pulling connectors, checking for loose wires and crosion, but so far I have come up with zero. I was running a resurface and noticed that my ganty was not moving squarly and one sid was lagging. I started troubleshooting and found out that my left Y axis motor was not moving. I swapped the connection to the other Y axis connection and the motor moved and reacted as expected. I then too a voltage reading at the back of the controller and I had the same voltage +/- a volt or so. At this point, I have the controller off of the bot. So I am making the assumption that it is a signal issue.

My bot sits in an unheat when not in use shop, so I know that there will be some issues with fretting corosion. So I plan to pull each termination, clean and apply a dielectric. This will help the temperature cycling issue and should be done for my condition anyway. I am also going to check for cracked solder joints. Yes, 25 years in the automotive electronics business ans taught me well!

After this long explaination, I just wanted to touch base to see if there is anything else I should be looking for from the collective's experience?

My bot is older PRT 48 96 with the Botrod controller upgrade. I am running all up to date software.

Thanks for your input.....

Mark,

I have the same machine and controller as you do. I had the same problem a few months ago. I am assuming it is the axis with two motors. Mine happes to be the X axis.

In my situation it was one of the Gecko 202's that faulted out for some reason. After cycling power it came back to life.

On your upgrade there is a fuse for each Gecko. Check to make sure that channel's fuse is still good.

Can you see the power light on the Gecko?

Hi Stan -

Thanks for the reply. I am assuming that might have been the case, but by the time I cycled power it was back. The it was off again. That is when I pulled the controller. When I plugged it in in the house, all the Gecko's were lite. Tomorrow I am going to go through the controller and do a screw tightening and connection cleaning. I will be sure to hit the fuses as well.

Thanks!
