View Full Version : Is baltic birch a *good* choice for a plenum board?

I'm going to try making a hybrid vacuum/t-slot table (another post) and I was wondering...

Most of the plenum boards seem to be cut out of MDF and then sealed. I have a 3/4" sheet of baltic birch to use for my plenum board. Is there a down side to using Baltic Birch? This would be glued to the base sheet of 3/4" baltic birch, surfaced, then cut into whatever zones/patterns I figure will suit my cutting needs the best. I'll still seal it when I'm done, then use a 3/4" sheet of Trupan for the spoilboard above it (sealing the edges, of course). Any input on either using the baltic birch or anything else about my plan?

Brian..
Any material that you can glue to the main table board will work fine. And yes you should seal it.
