I have heard there will be an unveiling at a show in Las Vegas next week. It allegedly would be able to run full 4 x 8 sheets on a small table footprint.
Any more leaked details ? Will it come in alpha, PRS Std, or both ?
Anybody ?

The model I saw at the Jamboree looked like it was designed to cut the same size material as the current Benchtop machine; however, the new model Benchtop machine is awesome. It has all of the great features of the larger PRS models but in a smaller package. It looks like it will be the perfect machine for those who never cut parts larger than the machine can handle.

I'll second what Mike said. Imagine an old Alpha benchtop, but with the PRS style rails and gantry. It looks like a great setup.

Here is Ted and the new machine. Does anyone know how wide it is? Is it still 32" or is it maybe 48"?

Brady, I could see two of those in my shop in the place of one machine!
It's so much fun to dream!
Let me know how you like yours when you get it!!!!

Looking at the video, (as a benchtopper myself) it appears that the "powerstrip" on the worktable might be something like: http://www.bwc.com/products/utilitrak.html
and the table runs straight on ball rollers, but the standard table looks different - so I don't quite understand - has anyone seen one of these? I like the "pricepoint" bit.

For those who want to see the vid...better look quickly...The link Mike posted has been taken down. This is not the same vid as the one posted before, but it is similar.

It looks like the new PRS Std. Bench top is wider (based on the video) than 24", which I thought was the case for bench tops. Anybody know what the new Bench top X-axis width is ?
Also, it sounded as though the $3,795 price tag does not come with the power stick top, correct ? If not, any rough estimate on the cost of the power stick ?
Finally, I have heard that the bench top is due out in October - is there a 48" wide variety in the works: same time frame ? Any idea on that cost ?

Has anyone placed a telephone call to Shopbot and simply asked about the new machine? I'm almost certain that someone there might know something about the machine ;-)

Brett, the benchtop table is 32" wide, 24" is the front to back dimension.
I have a benchtop now. I'm wondering if Shopbot will offer a retrofit.

I have. Details are still pretty light with only a tentative release date for the powerstick option.

Sheldon,
I'm not trying to be negative, but if Shopbot can't or won't give out all of the specs on the new machine, I'm guessing that they're still 'adjusting' things to see what would be the best possible design. Since this is a new design, they're probably going to wait until the last possible moment to publish all of the specs. (How many of us keep tweaking cut files, changing an arc here, adding a ramp there, until the file cuts faster and better? They're probably looking at similar things involved in the manufacture of the machine.)

I saw the machine in Vegas at the show, and I have several good quality photos. It is 32" width capacity, and with the "power stick" should be able to do any length up to about 20' if you choose to buy a power stick that long. There were still a few items that weren't quite ready for production, and the model I saw was a prototype. They needed to add some outrigger supports for the long power stick, and make the casters used on the prototype an option on the unit for sale. They told me that the model would be ready for sale in about two-three months. I can post the photos later.

I found the BT32 "Buddy" on the Shopbot website under press releases dated August 20, 2007. The release does not give pricing.

Has there been any announcements in regards to price structure on this product yet?

In Ted's presentation he mentioned the entry level pricing of $3,795 for the PRS Standard model and $6,495 for the PRS Alpha version. That was just for the 24" x 32" table. No mention of power stick options, or tables, or cost of them.
