I'm doing a project that requires a bit that will
cut approx. 3.187 inches into the inside of a relief.
I've seen some longer bits on this forum.I will be using it on mdf.Who,If anyone makes these bits.
If I can't find a longer bit I will have to increase the amount of slices for this relief

Brian,
The Hartlauer Bits catalog has some pretty long bits(however some are spec'd just for foam).

I use 6" long 1/2" diameter square & ball standard carbide 2 flute end mills. This will work on the Alpha style gantry, but not the older PRT due to clearance issues. If you have an older gantry, the max you will be able to do is 5" long...you can cut a 6" down to a 5".

As a rule, I never cut a single slice more that 3" thick. This gives me 3" of material + 3" of cutting length + 3" of straight shank - 1.5" pushed into the collet. This basically allows me to have around 1" of free space between my bit & the material for safe Z height...Forgot about that part didn't ya?
I still forget about that part and top out the Z from time to time!
