Another project designed with VectorArt3D's Wilderness Scenes. Carved into an 18" x 24" hard maple base and finished with shellac, glaze and spray lacquer.

Tim, that looks great - what a creative idea. Did the panel show any signs of warping after being relieved on one side like that? Did you have to rough out the backside to even out the stresses on the panel?

Hi David,

Coming from a person with your skills and abilities I really appreciate the complement.

So far there are no signs of warping or twisting, but I would expect to see it eventually. I only had 0.9" thick maple (after planing) and the sky area above the mountains is only about 1/8" thick. I plan on using 5/4 material for the next one.

Tim,
This looks fantastic. How did you keep the glaze from bleeding onto the frame part?

The contrast between the two is what fools your eye into thinking you are looking thru a window because the perspectives of the parts of the carving look just right. Good job.

Jack,

The surface was sealed with shellac before applying the glaze.

I guess with the carving being so thin there isn't much wood there to stress the frame.

Very cool.

Nice Job Tim, okay guys it may just be me and the fact that I am tired and sore but does anyone else see the face in the top left panel about mid way? Look at the top left panel just to the left of the clouds and if you look at it, to me I can see the slight image of a face..... really I am not kidding stare at it. Okay I will go to bed now.

I saw the same thing this morning. Do you think it might be the second coming?

Hey guys,

Worst case it's my reflection, which will reduce the value. Best case it is the second coming, in which case I'll put it on Ebay and have my Alpha as soon as it sells.

A buddy of mine works for the FBI and ran the image on their software. Came up with this....

Looks like you guys were right about the second coming thing.

Tim, very nice.

In fact I like it so much I called Diane at SB and ordered my own Wildlife Scenes today.

My wife saw the picture of your window scene and asked for something similar, I promise to send you a 10% royalty of whatever she pays me (I wouldn't wait by the mailbox too long).

Being Canadian I guess my "ghost face" will have to be Wayne Gretzky or Steve Nash...... if one of our politicians shows up the whole thing is firewood!

Jack, I had to "google" that. I'm sure she would if I do a good job.......not sure how I'd pay Tim though.

Darren,

I always believe in paying taxes when taxes are due, so please send me $0.0 because I like the tax rate!
