Anyone had a failure like this? This one had about 3 hours of total use. The failure happened about 55 minutes into a job.

Mine have run strong for 8 hours or more. I would contact the MFG.

Yikes. One of my cannisters caved in on one side but nothing like that. It was running all day in the hottest part of the summer.

Mine is about 4yrs old. I ran it for 170 hrs straight towards the end of last year...Overnight & everything. Still going strong. That meltdown should be under warranty.

Bill, that groove where you have wrapped the electrical cord is the flow path for the cooling air.....................

Good observation Harold! Except the electrical outlet for this vac is just short of 10 feet from where it is positioned. The cord had to be unwound to get power to it. But it is still good to publish that bit of information so others will have a better understanding of their equipment. What you see in the photo is the unit just about to be taken to the warranty/repair station. Which, by the grace of God, happens to be about 15 minutes from me.

They were quite puzzled by what they saw but on closer examination it appears that one end of the "float cylinder" was also melted/deformed as though it were being sucked up into the motor.

In any event they didn't even flinch and handed me a new one on the spot!
