Being inspired by a picture i saw of someone who cut the leaning tower of piza into a lithopane on a piece of pvc pipe, I got to thinking...Could this be done...I was thinking of taking a 4-6" piece of pvc pipe on my indexer to cut the panorama around the circumference of the pipe. Then one below it and so on if i find or make some panoramas that tell a story. Does anyone know the story of that "piza" litho? how long it took to cut? how many files, ect? Thanks

Jack,
That cylindrical lithophane was done by Bob Dodd. If I remember correctly Bob had to make a number of attempts to get the finished piece as you saw it. One of his major problems was the fact that most PVC pipe is NOT truly "round".
And Bob had also done a prior version of the Leaning Tower in wood as a "warmup" project as well...
I think you first need to get proficient at carving files in the round on the 'Bot, and THEN look at the possibility of trying them in PVC...

So in other words, I need to "learn to walk before i run"... I gotcha! lol I know, but my mind thinks up all these cool things before my hands can create them. Thanks
