Ship lap

Not sure if I spelled that right? Anyway I am joining 2 pieces of MDO together at the ends to create a 4X14 sheet. I would like to do the stepdown ship lap. It is 1/2 material. Anything I should look out for or suggestions on machining?

Use the Scarfing tool thats in Project wizard.

i did this once with 3/4'' mdo using recorcinol glue and a bicuit cutter tool. I just butt jointed them and it worked out good for the purpose i was using it for.
I prefer to use HDO for things like this however

Definitely the Scarfing tool. You will get a Superior joint and you have total control of the stepping dimensions.
