This problem still persists after having probe fixed. I'm running control software ver 3.4.27. I chuck up the probe. Give it a test area of 2"x2" in "copy machine" and leave most settings at default. I started it over my indexer bay to "airplunge" and put my hand underneath to act as the contact piece.

Its plugged in and the #1 button is on (green), the red light on the under side of the probe is on, when you touch the probe to interrupt the contact the green light comes on underneath.

However when you start the copy machine file you created the carriage will move in the X and Y axis but the probe and the Z axis NEVER move. This is what happened the first time and the reason it broke because the probe was being dragged across the piece.

Should i go get a update or are there other issues at play here? Was there a problem with ver 3.4.27 and the probe?
Also when i touched the probe to break contact the #1 light did not go off and on, should it?

Also another point breaking the contact had no bearing on the X and Y movement. Don't know if that's relevent.

Go download the latest and greatest beta. Probing routines and support for them have been updated.

Brady,
I had previously (within the last 60 days) had downloaded the same version thats there which is what i'm running (3.4.27). I will download: "Sb3.5.0 'Beta' software available for testing"
Is that stable enough to use, and is that what you were referring to, to download? thanks

Yes. Pull down the BETA. I've been using various versions of the beta now for months. It's good. Keypad response is a little different & there are some bonus features in the software that when you find & use them, you won't want to revert back to anything else...

I upgraded to the beta however now, it does not recognize that the bot is connected to any port. I have rebooted pc, bot, it asks if i want to try a different port but it searches and finds none. I've changed the port its plugged into, had it search for it, no dice. Does this have anything to to with the "firmware" update? I thought it did a check in the updating process and gave me a message that, that version was up to date. Any ideas whats up?

You have to reload the firmware for the beta.

Regardless of what combination of firmware upgrade/software startup/port its plugged into/control box restart, I still get no connection and doesn't recognize that any bot is hooked up to the software. stumped.

Goto: C:\Program Files\ShopBotBeta\Diagnostics and run SpeedTest.exe It will help you to find the port that the Bot is on. If not, call SB in the morning.
