View Full Version : Exporting DXF from Illustrator CS
I am trying to export DXF files from Illustrator CS and convert them within Shopbot's Control software to create a tool path. After much trial and error I have found that shapes with no curves can be converted successfully, however once any points are manipluated to create a curve the entire shape does not get converted. Circles work, but ellipses dont. Rectangles work, but not if they have rounded edges.. The only CAD/CAM software I have at my disposal is OneCNC and it will not recognize the DXF files either. Please help!

What formats of DXF are you trying? There's three in CS IIRC, 2007, 2004, and 2000. Try 2000 if you haven't already.
No access to Partwizard? You can import Illustrator files directly if you save them out as version 8.
As for OneCNC, it can't open EPS or AI files? You might check if it can, DXF shouldn't be the only option...
I have tried all 3 types of DXFs in Illustrator with no success. Same story each time, Shopbot's Control software will convert the shapes with no curves and ignore completely the shapes with curves.
As for alternatives to DXF in OneCNC, it will only import DGN, DXF, IGES, VDN-FS, and STEP files, of which DXF is the only that Illustrator will export.
