Hi all
I have a PRS Alpha that has developed jittery stepper motors, withe gantry creeping while idle.
I have reported it to support, but as yet not heard back.....I am really desperate with a pile of work to do.
Any ideas ?

When I installed the spindle on my smaller cnc, I discovered that if I turned the spindle on without the steppers being engaged, they would make very strange noises and do a chattering move. I improved the grounding and was able to reduce it to a very short noise. But now, of course, I always make sure the steppers are engaged before starting the spindle rotating so I get no chattery movement at all.
Don't know if it relates, but it is one of my experiences that sounds a little similar.

Sounds like communication from PC to Control. Clean up your start-up if necessary; Change out your cat cable, and try another port.

Turns out that in the UK the power breakers in the UK have twin contact, one set was sticking...Now fixed, Thank you Frank at support.
