what command to stop the plunge so I can test a file? besides re zz'ng the hight?
Not sure about your question. When I was running air cuts way back when, I just Z'ed it down about 1/4" from the material surface and called that "home", then ran an air cut. When that was done, it moved back "home". I then Z'ed it down properly and cut the file. No problem. However, air cuts can be hard to follow. If you're really unsure, test cut on cheap material like construction foam from Home Depot,...$20.00.

Move with the keypad to where you want to test at and then in the fill-in sheet that comes up after loading a file, select "Offset 3D" and it will cut from where it is. Just make sure you're high enough to start with.
