View Full Version : Z axis issue with movement
When I go to zero out my bit, The Z axis moves slow....in doing that, I see it studder in the downward movement only...It does it at both speeds...durning cutting and other movement...I dont see or fell this problem happening...
What could be the cause.?
If I am unclear...I can provide video later today.
Thanks

There is a chance that you have an irradic or failing Gecko driver. For the heck of it, switch the Y & Z drivers with each other (assign the Y to Z and vice versa in SB3) to switch what motor is assigned to what driver/Channel. Put Y on channel 3 and Z on channel 2. With control box off, swap motor cables in control box, with the Z motor going to what is normally the Y driver and Y motor with Z driver. See if this changes how the Z operates for you.

Whats weird is that the Z axis only does this at slow speeds....I tried to align the V bearing to be in center of rail...which one indeed was off from the factory...I realigned and put a shim in place but this didn't fix...
I will try your suggestion but one question...
Do I assign this in shopbot.ini?
Also...Can I increase the speed in the Z movement when homing the tool?
Thanks Brady.
How local are you...I'm in Williamstown, NJ.
