I need a 3/8" router for tropical hardwoods and getting one long enough is a pain. I cut 1.55 deep total. I have had a few with a shoulder ground on them for relief but it would be nice to have a fully fluted bit. Centurion Tools don't have long ones in stock often. I can get a regular roughing endmill in the right length but only with 4 flutes.

A four-flute cutter is going to run hot. Most endmills are designed to run at milling speeds rather than at routing speeds. At a chipload of 0.015 and a very modest RPM of 12,000, a 4-flute cutter would require a feed speed of 12-ips.

thats what I was afraid of. and even then the bits are over 70.00 each.
I have been using a 1.125 3f router from onsrud I lucked out getting on ebay for 35.00 including shipping. the regular price is almost 140.00
whiteside has some 3/8" straight bits 1.25" long they have some built in relief and tend to cut pretty clean in tropical woods. they would cost a whole lot less I wonder fi I should go with solid carbide or carbide tipped?
