Well I finally got all the cables installed, then realized I should have marked my prox cables. I was unable to get it to move with the basic functions that the manual suggests first, but I did manage to have it air cut the SB logo ( I think I did anyway). Can I assume then that the computer is talking to the controller? I also got the panel on the VFD to come on but did not run the spindle. SO I'm happy about that. BTW Does the spindle fan go on when the controller is powered up & run independent of the spindle? Putting the machine together was fun & involved but tomorrow a whole new set of issues face me, thanks to all of you guys - Neville

If you can aircut the Shopbot logo, you have communication and can cut ANYTHING! I started by using PartsWizard to V-Carve my name in foam, then wood. Keep a shallow depth of cut when starting out. You'll get the feel of it as you go. Also, the Onsrud folks helped me figure out feeds and speeds for different materials (and bits).
My Colombo spindle has an electric fan that runs whenever the control box is powered on. Be sure to let that spindle fan run for a while after cutting so it cools your spindle. (says Colombo)
