I have 2 power wires run for my router. One run from the control box and one a constant live plug in.

I was starting a file and the rough cut started out too deep and was starting to bog machine down so i hit spacebar and stopped the file.

I had the file corrected to only start with a .10 cut on the first pass of the rough out cut.
The problem now is when the reminder box comes up telling you to turn the router on (hit the button on the control box) I do that but it doesn't start the router. When i stop the file THEN i hear a click.
I rebooted the computer, i rebooted the control box, and i turned the breaker off at the circuit box and let it sit (thinking it would reset) but it still doesn't work.
I unplugged router and plugged it in to constant power and it runs. It sounds to me like it might be in the controller circuit (i forget name) in the box that turns it off and on like it might be stuck. Any ideas?

NOt to be too obvious, but did you check the power switch on the top of the router? It might have gotten bumped.

It also could be that the relay is stuck. I have had to open the control box and give it a whack from the side when I hit the start button. Shopbot sent me knew relays to correct that issue.

Yes i checked the switch. I know what you mean sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees.

When i unplug the router from the power supply coming from the control box and plug it in the the power line it works fine. The problem i believe is in the relay.

Jack,
OPen up the box and then turn the knob to get power to it. Start a file and hit the start button. Then wrap on the side of the relay to get it to pop out and the router will turn on and run.

I will try that (off) the material just in case. Thanks.

BTW..how big of a hammer should i use? I have a big sledge hammer i think will work nicely.

Are the correct input in the control software turned on? Has the remote stop button released?

Yes it isn't a remote stop issue, it is with the relay. I didn't have time to call shopbot today because just looking in the control box I can't tell which relay is the one for the router.

So, I have had this problem before... When I first put my bot together a couple of years ago, the router would not start, and none of the x/y axis motors would run... Turned out that if I loosened the mounting bolts on the relays it would work. The relays were getting tweeked somehow in the chassis and after loosening the screws, it freed them up...

Scott,
That was the first thing tech support had me do when I had the issue with my relays. They said the extra heat warped the cases a bit and loosening the screws allowed them to relax enough to sometimes free them. I was within my warranty period so they sent me all new relays. They are a different style. Switching over was a PITA but was pretty straight forward.

My problem turned out to be a popped fuse. There is a 15 amp and 30 amp fuse in the box. I took them both out and replaced (about $10.00 each!). Everything works fine now.
