Curtis and a few others spoke of the c3 application. They simply type C3 into their control software and it uses the stops to zero the table.... excellent idea!

Curtis spoke of a custom directory which I do not have though he sent me some custom files that connect to xyzero.spb

Is there a place it is documented how to set this up. I have a guide that I zero to now but having is automated would be a beautiful thing!

Experienced a very sad thing the other day... first time of running a downcut .25 bit through a sheetrock screw. (and visions of vacuum hold down, danced through their heads...)

As always, many thanks to everyone.

Ken Zey might be able to add some wisdom to
this topic. He found & set mine up.

The C3 program zeros the x & y in the typical corner in relation to where the prox switches activate.

The C3 program will start, hit the x prox switch move positive .5 and zeros. It then moves again, hits the y prox switch, moves positive .5 and zeros.

That means the prox switches are located at
-.5 inches from zero x & y.
The value can be change as needed.

I think it is loaded on all the machines, but you would have to check.

Careful with the signs on the settings or it may try to zero at .5 past (farther negative) the prox hit which might bump your hard stops...

Just type in the TS command in SB3 & follow the directions. It will help you to setup your X,Y locations without a lot of fuss. Set your tool exactly where you want your home or 0,0 to be, and type in Z2. It helps to have a pointed bit (v-bit etc) to locate the corner correctly. Then run TS.

Alternatively, you can do the same things, ZX & ZY where the corner is (Z2) and open up the my_variables.sbc file in the C:\SbParts\Custom folder. Scroll down until you see where the X & Y Homing routine values are. Minimize the my_variables screen and set your move speeds in SB3 to something like 1 IPS. Move the tool in the negative direction (in the X 1st) until it hits the proximity switch. Note the number and back off of the switch and back on it a few times, noting the value. Write the most common value down for the X, including the negative sign. move off of the X switch and repeat the process for the Y. Write down the value for the Y. Then input both values where they should go in the my_variables file. Save it & run SB3.

The fast way or the hard way...your choice.

Bob,
You haven't done anything probably all of us have done at one time or other, running thru screws, ect. Just a few weeks ago I cut thru a metal clamp and broke a bit so don't feel bad!

Brady,

much thanks for specifically your wisdom to this forum. I truly hope to meet one day.

SO... I do not have a c:\SbParts\Custom folder
which is where my confusion has been coming.

FYI... My machine is running Vista so there could have been an issue with the install.

I work in the computer industry and understand these joyous issues... is there a way to get a custom folder post install?

Sure...Just extract the attached Zip to C:\SBParts\Custom & it should have everything you need.
