just out of curiosity I hooked my imac to the shopbot.. after installing XP and the shopbot software.. and .. it runs the machine just fine.. doesn't seem to be any difference than when my PC is hooked to it.. has anyone else tried this..

If it keeps working then it will save me buying a Dell computer today just to get one with XP.. today is the last day for Dells with XP...

I ran the shopbot off a macbookpro for about a year with mostly no problems. After the upgrade to leopard it was a gonner. so i bought a Dell laptop with XP for about $350 to dedicate to the SB.

I still use a 24" iMac running parallels to make all the cutting files, etc for the SB and flash drive to the Dell.

Steve.. if you hadn't upgraded would you still be using the Imac...was that the only thing that stopped you.. what happened with Leopard that was the problem..

with leopard, SB just went bananas.

I think there are a few people on the forum that run exclusively from macs. In the end, I thought it'd be better not to tie up the mac all day to run the sb when a dedicated $350Dell does the job and didn't want to spend the time to figure out why the mac wasn't working anymore.

have you looked on Dell's site for used business computers?

We've been running an Alpha and SB3 on an iMac with Leopard (OSX) using Windows XP and Parallels. It works great! We posted some pictures of it on the "Assembly" part of the forum.
