What are the CPU requirements for the shopbot control software. I know what the requirements are for the design software.

What i am asking is what is the:
processor requirements
memory size
Do I need SATA HD's, how big?
On board USB or a USB pci card.

I am looking to put together a "Control Computer" just for running the ShopBot, and a second computer just for design and toolpathing then upload to the control computer.

I plan on networking the two with a 1tb NASD for storage and backup.

The computers I am looking to use are Dell Optiplex GX260 with Win XP Pro sp2, 512mb ram

Any advice appreciated....

I am running my PRT Alpha on an old dell. Pentium II with 192 meg of ram and a IDE 10 gig hard drive, it has built in 1.1 USB port. Running windows 98 ver 2 and control software 3.4.1. I know the control software is not up to date, but if its not broke don't fix it is my moto and it works fine.

I can't remember if computer is 350mhz or 500 mhz.

I do all my design and toolpathing on office computer and then transfer files across network to control computer. I have no problems with low powered dell running shopbot. occasionally on large file of more than 250,000 lines it will pause while it loads portion of toolpath. I do not know if this is limitation of memory or if this would happen on any size machine. either way, it works perfect.

Hope this helps,

Fred
