Hi Guys
How do I import adobe photoshop cs3 files in to VCP ?. the file was saved as an EPS file but when I try to open it in VCP it can't do it. Or how do I export from CS3 in a format that will work in VCP ?.

They need to be in a vector format first, save as a bmp in photoshop then use VCP to make the vectors from the image.
If the format is a vector format try select all and then export as a eps or dxf format

You can't import from Photo shop into VCP because it is a raster image. At least not with any good quality. Photoshop is good for taking the red eye out and tweaking photos. Not for drawing something to cut. You need to use illustrator instead of photoshop. This will give you sharp vectorized artwork for cutting. Unless you don't care about quality of image and linework. Just because you can save something to a file that you can bring into VCP does not mean it will be worth using.

OK. So I guess I have to redraw this job . The artwork was provided by a customer, and is not available in any other file format .Looks like I got some work to do .

Try using a program called "inkscape". It's free and does a great job of vectorizing raster images and saving them as dxf or eps.

Photoshop is a great program if one knows how to use it correctly, it is not a program you want to go out and buy because of the price, it is not what you want to use to make vector files with but a powerful tool to clean up bad images with.
Inkscape is like any other raster to vector program, this feature has been in Turbocad, CorelDraw and is in Partworks aka VCP and does the same thing, it all depends on the picture you are working with and what detail can be pulled, the smaller the file the poorer the results. To achieve good results take an image and convert to black and white and rescale it to 1000X??? And then convert to 256 or 16 million colors so you can use the smooth tools, after a few passes you will see you will get better results on the conversion.
