I don't know about others but this idea really grabs me.
In an age of sterility, conformity and sameness, this humor hits a positive nerve with me.
Does anybody see an application for a SB?
Could a SB be fitted with an inkjet printer head?
Is it against the law to use performance art on mailboxes?
I've got a burning desire to have my secret lover, Elastagirl holding up my mailbox! ;-)

Chuck, check out widgetworksunlimited.com. I believe they have a plotter pen that can be mounted as a tool.

The fella who created the awesome camel in pink foam just before Christmas has given me the mailbox idea.
The performance art of these garage door panels is cool.
Installing an ink jet printer head onto the z axis like this:

...would add a whole new dimension to the bot work.
Is it re-inventing the wheel?

Chuck,
I work on those printers for a living. The time and money you would spend to get it to work would be a lot more than the printers are worth. You would need a controller to turn each nozzle in the print head on and off at the correct time, as well as control the location of the print head. Each color of each print head can have as many as 300 nozzles in multiple rows. Print heads that would hold up to the movement in more than one direction would cost over $1500 each (times 4), the rip software to convert the picture into a raster image that the machine can convert into lines and dots can go for as much as $8000. I could go on but you can see I am already over $14000. for that you can buy a Good commercial printer with software.

Gotcha Jay,
I owned a 3D printer and the head seemed like nothing special...
Yet, I was assured there is a whole lot of engineering going on there.
I'll stick with foam.
