We're thinking about sending out a newsletter by email - ShopBot News. It could contain timely annoucements, short writeups with links to items that might interest a ShopBotter but he/she might miss, and more ...
If you're interested sign up at http://www.shopbottools.com/newsletters.htm. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Hi Shopbot,
I tried to subscribe 3 times but I'm told the info I plugged in to match the "captcha image" was wrong, yet it is very clear. Any problem here?
Thanks much, Gerry

On my first attempt I entered the so called "captcha image" as it was displayed, spaces included.
I got the error message that told me the "captcha image" was wrong.
On the second attempt I didn't add any spaces and it went through with no problems.

Gerry and David, I've added your email addresses to the list. The list server we're using strongly recommends using those captcha safeguards even though they can be a pain. This one seems to be more readable than most.

I tried several times with different codes and I couldn't sign in.

Hi Nancy, Thanks for putting me on the list. I tried again several times just out of interest a day or two ago and still got the same rejection.
Perhaps it's a security thing with your ISP as 3 out of 4 of us reporting the problem are not American. In David's case, he must just be a big blue meanie (in Willy Wonka jargon :-) )

I had the same issue--I emailed nancy back asking her to put us on the list--the next morning she confirmed she did it-and all is OK--PEZ

So you have us click a link here to sign up there and then check our email to click another link to sign up?
Are we signing up to willingly get spammed by shopbot or trying to get a top secret clearance from the government. Just another example of making a very simple task complicated. Sign of the times I guess but it's starting to get old on about every level of the internet.
I hear there are a large number of people trying to sneak onto these newsletter lists these days?

I've been called a lot of names before but no one (to my knowledge) has ever called me a big blue meanie...

David, I think it must have been a moment of jealousy held over from seeing some of the incredible craftsmanship on your website. Much nicer even than anything even Mr. Wonka had. :-)

One would have thought that as a matter of course Shopbot would have sent this newsletter to all owners regardless of whether they participate in the forum.
I have tried several times on different days and no luck. The "captcha image" is always wrong, whether spaces, no spaces double spaces, upper lower case it does not matter, it is always wrong, a bit like being a man really, always in the proverbial its just the depth that varies.
So I will just have to resile myself to never receiving the newsletter. Sigh!!!
Hope everyone else enjoys it.

First email newsletter has been sent out. If you signed up with a comcast.net email address, you probably didn't get it as it looks like all of those bounced. Anyone else who signed up before last evening might look in the spam or junk mail box if it didn't show up in your regular inbox.
I have a Comcast address. There was no newsletter in the screened or junk mail folders. What do I have to do to get the newsletter? Thanks.

It looks like comcast will not accept our newsletters. You can try talking to them but it may be easier to sign up using another email address - gmail, hotmail, yahoo are free and don't seem to be as unfriendly.
Okay, I've submitted another e-mail address. Let's see if the newsletter will come through now. Thanks

The first issue was sent out Dec 1. We'll resend it around Dec 15 to catch all those who have signed up since Dec 1. This will include those of you who have resubscribed with an email address other than comcast.net which will not accept the newsletter.
