I draw parts in Acad and then save as DXF and import to PW.

Are there any rules that can insure that my vectors are closed and ready for tool pathing before save the dxf?

I hate editing in PW and sometimes I can't even find what it is talking about.... group vector to find the overlapping/intersecting vectors etc..

I just want my dxfs to be perfect for PW with out having to edit nodes etc. I snap to end points etc.....

I just need to know if there is a way to precheck a dwg so it transfers without editing in PW.

Thanks

PEdit and Join all your closed vectors. This will ensure that you don't have any open or overlapping vectors.

Also get friendly with the Object Snap feature. Trim and Fillet are useful, especially using a zero radius with fillet to extend to vectors to their apparent intersection.

Lots of little tricks, but I don't think there is one command that will take a sloppy drawing and clean it up.

Happy Drawing

Open the properties box in Autocad, and it will tell you if a polyline is closed or not.

If it is closed, it will tell you the enclosed area such as 2.xxxx sq ft.

Draw with polylines rather than lines as they will connect to each other using Pedit and join.

You can use the flatten command to make sure all your lines are on the zero plane.

Does anyone know why I can bring up the Shopbot page on a XP computer, but when I go to the forum I just get a blank page ?? Firewall is off on the XP.

Another interesting command for AutoCad is "overkill". This command will remove any extraneous double lines so that they don't get toolpathed

This is what works for me. I use region to see if it is already a closed object, V carve does not accept regions. If not closed I used pedit to find bad points then fix from there.

I'm still having problems.

In parts wizard:
"the selected vectors self-intersect. To identify self-intersections, group the vectors."

I group them and see no difference.... what am I looking for?

I used polylines, pedit, closed, joined in acad but still have this pop up when I'm trying to toolpath.

I figured it out.

I have a invisible line on a layer.

I got rid of it and bingo. No prob.
