I can open a file in Partworks3D but I really would like to open it up in Aspire so I might be able to edit it to my liking. Is it possible to get it into Aspire? If so how do I do it??

What format (file type) is it?

Daryl,

You will need to use the Import Component or 3D model command. You will find the command in the Edit>Import menu or use the icon in the File Operations section on the left side.

If you can open it in Partworks3D then Aspire can import it.

Correction: You will find the Import command under the File drop down menu, not the Edit as I stated above. Sorry!

Okay it worked like a charm. Thanks again. One more question, is it possible to eliminate a part of a component that is already made up from Vectric? The file I would like to make is for some rosettes and the tool pattern I chose has one too many tools in it. Is it possible to eliminate one of them?

Daryl,

I'm a little confused by the statement of having too many tools in it.

If you mean toolpaths, yes you can delete them.

If you want to actually modify the 3D model you can do that also. There are two ways this may be done.

First way is to open the Component manager and look at the component list and model tree to see if what you want to delete is listed as an individual component. If it is, you can uncheck the box next to its name and then recalculate your toolpaths with the new 3D model shown in the 3D preview screen.

If it is not broken down into smaller components, here are the major steps to modifying a component:
1. copy it into the working model
2. uncheck the box next to the component
3. draw or trace a vector around what you want to change and use either the "Clear area of working model outside selected vectors" or "Clear area of working model inside selected vectors" icons to remove what you don't want.
4. use the sculpting tools as necessary.
5. use the "Make working model into a component" icon to save the modified model.

From here you would recalculate your toolpaths.

Thanks again!!! Tim I will try it. I should have said that there were too many tools being cut by the toolpath. I will try editing them as you suggested. Thanks again!
