Another way to measure the included angle of a V bit.

I have just ordered the 45D, 90D, and the 120D Amana insert cutters. I will give some feedback when I have tried them out.

I have an existing 45D cutter I had made by Titman, the inserts for that are $50 each.

If you want some precision ground vbits that are absolutely right on then check out
www.centuriontools.com (http://www.centuriontools.com) I've seen them manufacture them seen the quality control and those bits are great.

Jack, I am doing mitre joint in 35mm thick material, so need a cutting edge at least 1" long (2 passes - I'd like 1 but...). I have a large braized bit that I've ground the bearing mount off on, but the angle isn't quite right.

I have taken the flat area into account. In this case, the flat area is .010". It's just too small to show up in the drawing.

I've found most V bits don't leave a perfect zero point in the finished piece. Gerber V's do have the extra relief cut at the tip of the bit which results in a near perfect V. I think Onsrud has the same feature.

Does anyone know of a bit manufacturer who offers a 60 degree bit with a full 1" cutting edge?

If you are looking 1" cutting edge AMANA do a 60D with 1 1/16" cutting edge and a 29/32" depth of cut. No.RC-1108.

I believe the 1" Onsrud 60° that comes in the ShopBot Bit Kit meets those specs.
