I have seen others talk about getting minute
(my-noot) details using a 1/16th ballnose on carvings and i wondered for those of you who have used both which would be the better tool to use to get small details a 1/16th ballnose or a 60 degree vbit, and what the difference would be if you know?

A 1/16 bit is (usually) 1/16 for the length of the cutting portion on a ball nosed bit. It is only for the very tip of a V bit, so if you are doing anything which requires something beyond superficial surface etching a ball nosed bit would probably be more versatile...

If you are trying to v-carve small details then I would think a 60 deg vbit would be better. Here is a detail from a clock face i just carved using a 60 deg bit:

8538

The trees on the upper left are just 5/8" high and the arced cross hatch lines on the lower right are only 1/32" wide. I'm thinking a 1/16 ball nose would not work well on these.

the V-bit is for V-carving (like in Partworks), the ballnose is for 3D machining (like in PartWorks 3D or Cut3D)
