Feed speeds?

Can anyone that cuts alot of 3/4" melamine give me some suggestions on a good feed rate. I am currently cutting in one pass with an Onsrud 3/8" 2 flute compression bit. I just don't think I'm getting long enough bit life. The bit is too warm after I get finished cutting. I've played around with the feed rates but no luck.

What model ShopBot do you have and what router or spindle are you using? I've been using Whiteside 1/4" compression bits and can get at least 30 sheets from a bit. I just upgraded to a spindle so am hoping to increase bit life even more. I can't through-cut in one pass with my vacuum setup but I cut .73" deep on the first pass. I increased the speed from 4.5 ips with the router to 5.5 ips with the spindle at 16K rpm on my PRT Alpha.

Sorry I forgot to mention, I have a 5hp Columbo spindle. Hope that helps.
