Anyone using depth ring stops on their bits to aid in tool changes and zeroing
I thought about using them, but was concerned about the set screw affecting the balance at high speeds and possibly causing bearing damage. Any thoughts on this?

I have used a "quick release collet" on my porter cable router for years and never had any problems. Bits never slip or bearing affected. Can't speak to anything spindle related.

I have a very 'crude' method I have been using. I run the Z up to 3 and remove the bit. I then have a 3 inch block I place under the holder and insert the 'next' bit to be used. The end of the bit is now resting on the 3 inch block and I tighten everything up. So far for the kinds of work I have been doing it 'seems' to be working.
