I just finished puting my new alpha together. All was well until I was getting ready to surface the table. I have a 2.25 HP HSD single phase spindle. I did the warm up in keypad. When I closed keypad and hit ctrl 1 to turn it back on it won't come on. I did a ctrl/alt/delto test it and the task manager came up so I'm pretty sure the key works. Tried both of them. I can't find anything in the books that helped me and it was too late to call ShopBot. Any Suggestions
Thanks

I'm not sure about how the HSD is hooked up but for the Columbo you need to be sure the number one switch in control panel is turned on. You should have the number one blue light on.
Paco explained it in more detail below.

To turn the spindle on output #1 and 4 have to be on. To turn an output switch on you can use the key pad, the alt key and the switch number or the [SO] command.
Like Ryan wrote, both output switches #1 & #4 need to be ON. But the START button on the control box need to be hit too.
In Key mode #4 is always ON (unless you turn it OFF) and just need to turn #1 ON (ALT-1). Hit the Start BUTTON on the control box to start the spindle.
In automatic mode (under most movement commands), #4 is turned ON automatically. To activate the #1, the command (SO 1,1) need to be entered (generally form the code in the file). The control software will prompt you to push the START button on the control box.
For a manual warm up, I'd suggest that you manually turn outputs #1 & #4 (ALT-1 then ALT-4) then hit the START button on the control box. Why? Because K mode will terminate if no operator action is detect in about 3-5 minutes or so.
This is all assuming you have the spindle hooked in a "standard" ShopBot fashion; using the contactor inside the control box.
Hope that help...

I can get it to work in key pad mode I just can't get it to come on after I close the key pad. I hit ctrl 1 as per the instruction book and the start button on the control box and nothing.
What next

Hey Bill,
Try ALT 1, not CTRL 1

hi Bill'
I have a single phase spindle and what i do is to bring up the key command and flip switch 1 on and close out of it. Now i load the file and hit start, then there will be a message to turn on the spindle and press enter you do have to turn the spindle on on the control box with the green button . People have told me other ways to do it but to me its the most simplest way to do this.I hope this is of some help to ya.
