I just finished designing and making a new sign for the woodworking club I belong to. Pictures show the finished sign (frame to be added by another club member). Inlay was completed using the Auto Inlay tool in Aspire/VCP (Partworks). Base is soft maple.

Tim,
That's very nice! Yet another reason to purchase Aspire. So are the "black" outlines/folds inlayed as well or are they drawn in? Either way its incredibly well done...

John,
The black lines are either v-carved or engraved using a profile-on toolpath. I just followed some of the more pronounced lines in the photo I was tracing. After machining, the wood was sealed and the lines painted in.

There is a certain style to this sign that is different then a lot of stuff. Even though you know it is a flat picture the different colors give it a depth kind of like "intarsia"?
another masterpiece...

I wanted to close this out with a couple of pictures showing the sign completely finished. Another club member, Dan, designed and built the Arts & Craft style frame and stand. Dan is actually the model for the inlayed logo and is a very accomplished woodworker as the pictures show.
Thanks for looking,
Tim
