Hi,

I'm having trouble getting going with the software for my Buddy 32 Standard. No help files show up and other files can't be found. I'd like to do a completely clean install from the CD and then, I imagine, download any updates from there which leads to another question. Can I copy the downloads onto a CD on my internet connected computer and then do the updates with the CD on the "not-internet-connected" computer that I use with the Shopbot?

Should I uninstall and reinstall both the SB3 program and the PW/PW3D programs?

I'm a Mac user so not very savvy about Windows XP - looks like it has SP-1 loaded. I've not gotten beyond just running the carriage and table testing the sensors so far because with no help files and no detailed, true newbie/for dummies tutorials available that I can find I'm kind of frustrated.

Thanks much,
Gerry

I hate Vista... enough said

Computer, control panels, add or remove programs

They once told me that it's probably ok to load an update over an existing program but I had an issue and removed the entire program to make it go.

HAY call the office and TT frank although he might not know about Macs...

Thanks for getting back Magic. My wife has vista so I know what you mean. fortunately, my SB computer is using win. XP

I'm not actually using the Mac for the SB - just mentioned it so people would not assume I'm really knowledgeable with Windows.

Anyone else got any advise on how to best do a clean un-install?

As Magic said,
click start, Computer, control panel, add or remove programs. that should give you a list of all programs on yout C drive, select SB, then select uninstall, et Voila!, or Viola as some people say :-)

Thanks guys, I found and un-installed it and then re-installed from the original CD but was told during the re-install that a SB folder already existed. I went ahead but after re-starting I still cannot call up any help files so without being able to find any SB for dummies type material to fall back on, I'm kind of at a roadblock and I don't have internet in my garage/workshop. Hm-m-m?

Being that I can't even get to first base,I think maybe it's time to give up, trade the bot in for a rocking chair and take up whittling :-)

DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!Call Tech Support.Be a pest. They won't mind (I hope not,for my sake).I took my long awhile to get things going, many times I wanted to give up.But when you start making real saw dust,it will be worth it.Sorry I don't have the answer to your specific problem, but someone will. Just don't GIVE UP!!!

Hey,

Did you check to see if the help files had been installed...they should have been installed in your "C:\Program Files\ShopBot\ShopBot 3\Help" folder. You'll need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to view them....if you don't have it it's a free download from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

If the files weren't installed or you have Acrobat Reader installed and still can't help to work, give support a call.
