How many Shopbots have been built?

On the Vectric forum someone was asking for advice on their first CNC machine to purchase. Obviously I recommended Shopbot becasue of the company support and the forum.

I was curious though, how many Shopbots are there in the world? And how does that compare to other brands?

We figure there are 6000 to 7000 ShopBots out there. There's not a lot of public data, but in terms of full-size, CNC routers, our impression is that Multicam is the only manufacturer in the ballpark in terms of units and that they are probably shipping at a slightly higher rate than us today. But I should say that I actually have no "hard" data. And, in terms of $-sales, we would not look very impressive against any of the big-iron players.

Once you look beyond flat-bed routers, whenever we start to feel pleased about a good month, we think about Haas shipping 1000 CNC mills a month. That sort-of puts it in perspective.
