I just bought the ShopBot probe and tried it out today.
I probed a 2D outline and saved it as a DXF.
In preveiw cutting I got a lot of Z plunges that seem to represent the part.
I tried opening the file in PW and got an error message.
I can't seem to be able to open the file to smooth out the probes.
Any help on this would be great.

I'm having the same thing, except trying to open in Aspire 3.5 and cut3d. spent hours probing the part and nothing seems to be able to open the dxf points file. grrr

For 2D outlines you want to make sure you select the 2D option on the 1st CopyMachine tab & then DXF Polyline on the 3rd tab. DO NOT use the Probe to Surface Translator for 2D probe data - The poly line should go right into PartWorks or VCP as a 2D Vector file.
If you are probing 3D, select that you want 3D & probe as an SBP. When you are done, you can pull the SBP right into PartWorks3D or use the Probe To Surface Translator to convert it to a 3D DXF mesh, which you can import into Aspire using Model->Import 3D Component. The Probe to Surface Translator should be in SB3, under Tools. If it isn't see if it is sitting in C:\Program Files (x86)\ShopBot\Virtual Tools\Probe to Surface and run the .exe directly from there. Make a shortcut on your desktop.
