I am trying to cut a cone that is 19" diameter at the bottom and 18" diameter at the top and 4" tall. I am having trouble visualizing this today for some reason. can someone help me with a flat pattern to make this cone cut out of aluminum and then rolled and fastened to make the cone. This is for a radiator shroud for a stock car if your wondering.
Thanks,

Dave,
Check out the spreadsheet found here...

This should help.

Rhino has a command called "unroll developable surface". You simply create the 3D surface, and then this commands creates a 2D unrolled sheet for you.
You probably will want to add some tabs and an "overlap section".
If you don't have RHINO I can simply send you the 2D dxf file if you want. Presumably you mean 4 inches tall in the Z direction, and not along the sloped cone surface?

I just sent you an e-mail with a program attached. I tried to post the zipped file here but the 65K was rejected by the system. Here is a screen shot of your cone. You can export a flat pattern or a 3d file in either dxf or eps format.

Thanks for the help guys the cone is installed on my stock car and this allowed me to install a little larger fan to cool it on the hot July days.
