Can you attach an indexer to the 5 axis bot and if so does anyone have any pictures they could share of a finished project? I'm just curious how accurate the indexer is.

Hey Chris,
Look at the bottom of the new 3d page on the ShopBot website to see a few more of the things that ShopBotters have done with indexers and also some info on the development of a 5-axis ShopBot.

Yes, I have seen those pictures and they are impressive. I guess my question is, When the 5 axis is available for purchase then technically you would be able to take something like a baseball trophy, use the indexing probe to copy it and then actually carve another trophy correct? Or not? Remeber I don't own a shopbot yet and I am just trying to get a feel for what they can and cannot do.

Chris,
You could probe the part on the indexer and cut it on the indexer as well. There's no need for 5 axis for that operation.
GOOD 5 axis CAD/CAM is very expensive, probably the cost of 2 or 3 ShopBot tools, so it isn't for everyone. It boils down to what you need. With the software available today, there are very few parts that you cannot cut on a standard ShopBot 3-axis CNC or one equiped with an indexer.
