Hello all:
I'm in the design stages of creating the interior at my son's new restaurant in Seattle. Looking for some cool ideas for the finished look using this material. I once had an architect spec. this stuff on a bathroom's walls, and he had the installer mix the final coat in such a way so as to give a mottled look, he did NOT want a uniform color. It looked really good. Pictures would help if you have any. Can it be put over drywall in a dry interior space?
Thanks alot.
Thats like stucco right?
Interrior I would use a venetian plaster compound.
Easy to put on, great wear, and not abrasive like stucco.

You can use a venetian plaster over drywall or wood.
With the cnc you can also do full 2d themes like jeffrey mcgrew did

Hey Danny, thanks for the info. The venetian plaster looks really good and will investigate. The EIFS can be both rough like stucco or silky smooth. Wow, that because we can site was awesome. Thanks!

Another idea that we've never gotten around too is to try putting a rotozip bit in our router and cutting custom drywall profiles on the shopbot table. That way you could pre-cut lots of complex shapes for the edges, and then take thin drywall and span and bend it to make vaults and such. Not anything that a good drywaller couldn't do, but it might save some labor if you've got a kit of parts ready to go...

Been to your site before and all the freedom of creativity is cool. Dont know if you have a spindle or use a router motor in your shopbot. I have a 5 hp spindle and i dont think i would risk it cutting drywall. Dont think it would take long to eat a spindle with that fine dust.No matter how good my dust collection was. Just me.

Rick: good point. We just have a router. And a good dust collector. But still, that's an issue. Hmm...
Thanks for the kind words on the site, we're having a lot of fun (working really hard)!
