Here's an interesting article on Yahoo news. Sounds like it could potentially affect many of us by requiring us to pay to have our products tested by third party labs.

From my understanding is the current answer is yes.
There is a drive under way by small toy makers, and organizations to exempt small toy makers (under 5000 toys a year) from the law. But they would have to register and submit samples for testing upon request.
This is hearsay from news reports.
But, if you don't like what you hear I suggest you contact your congressmen, senators, president and president-elect and tell them what you think ASAP.
Contacting other legislators, especially those on associated committees, legislative leaders, and your media is also a good thing. I think the trade organization is http://www.handmadetoyalliance.org/
Other bodies to include in your letter writing / faxing campaign would include the Consumer Product Safety Council, Federal Trade Commission, Small Business Administration, and any other government beurocracy that might or could have any little bit of influence over it.
Contact you state Attorney General and Governor to request they intervene on your behalf to request such legislation be moderated with common sense.
I don't believe it was the intent to impact small domestic manufacturers, but it may be the un-intended consequence. Speaking with the ones 'in charge' is the only way to get the system changed especially now that the wheels are already in motion.
The goverment and common sense simply dont go together.
I would think that this is more for importers and mass producers. If i were in the buisness of toy making i would want to make them as safe as i would know how anyway..

Im simply not doing it......we have way to much government over sight for all the wrong reasons....they need to spend their time and effort over seeing the "free money" there giving away.
If a parent cant look at something and tell if its safe for their child then maybe they shouldn't be parents.....God this is just stupid.
