Cool .What does it do when it's done ?.

Ok Daniel....which one did you make?
The Bic, the quarter or the stolen boiler plate off an alien space craft held at The Skunk Works?

Its a board to hold a programmable chip and interface 4 potentiometers, a switch and a high power RGB LED. Its for color mixing and phaseing, possibly for a liquor shelf or something.....

Did you use Eagle to design the PCB layout/cut file? I've looked at that package for use in a couple of projects, but always got sidetracked before I got around to trying it out.

What size bit did you use to cut away the copper cladding? Did you drill the holes with the same bit?

I cut some FR4 with my shopbot and it eats bits. What is your board material?

Yes I did use Eagle,

Dana, I used a large pointed round over bit to cut the traces, It's the only bit I have thats even close to being able to do the job. I need to experiment with some other bits, I don't know what the board is.......It's the first time I've ever done this and I got the board out of a stack at a surplus store. The bit for the holes is .025in.

Check out www.precisebits.com (http://www.precisebits.com)

They have specialty bits specificly for doing circuit boards.

most of them require an 1/8" collet though. (which they also sell for The PC router)

Daniel, what feed rate did you use for that board? I've tried this using one of Precise Bits V cutters and ended up ruining the bit. I used PCBGCode within Eagle to generate the tool path.

Great job on the board!

I cut the traces at 1.7 in/sec with a large pointed roundover bit. The holes though required a very small bit. I set the plunge to .05 in/sec on those.
