Happy Canada Day to all those hardy Canadian souls. I think I'd live to 100 if only we had some of hat clean, fresh air. I hear it can't even been seen.
Cheers

Right back at ya.
I'm going to Ottowa this for a few days this week. What are the "must see" things in Ottowa. I've never been there before.

Phil,
There's lots of stuff to do there...but if you like architecture and decorative reliefs etc, be sure to visit the capitol/parliament building and surrounding area. This time of year there is usually an outside market where you can get fresh foods & just about any type of restaruant you could desire all around. Although I haven't done it, I believe there are busses that are amphibious that take you on a sort of 'surf & turf' tour of the area. No matter what you choose, it really is a beautiful city and the weather is gorgeous this time of year.

Welcome to Ottawa Phil - my home turf .
Sounds like Brady has been here bofore bu tto add to his list :
- The Rideau Canal was just designated a world heritage site and flows right through down town . There are canal boats that do tours on it daily or you can rent a bike behind the Chateau Laurier and ride the nice paths along the canal .
- If wood working is your thing check out Lee Valley tools which is based in Ottawa
- One of our best Museums is the new War Museum . Sounds like an odd place to recommend but everyone who goes says how much they enjoyed it . It really tells a story nicely .
- The market Brady mentioned is the Byward Market downtown . A nice place to amble through on a summer evening .
- There is a hullcasino across the river in Hull that has a top class restuarant and of course gambling if that is your thing .
- If you like mountain biking or hiking the Gatineau park is an excellent destination only minutes from downtown and some nice restaurants in the town of Old Chelsea just outside of it . Old Chelsea is also where you rent mountain bikes .
Bring a sweater ... it has been a bit on the cool side lately

Thanks guys,
my daughter is in an Irish step dancing competition http://www.irishdancecanada.com/NAN_07/NAN07.htm July 4- 8. We'll be in Ottowa attending the event and we'd like to see more of the city. I've heard from a number of friends that it is very nice.
