Has anyone tried to reproduce a hand hued texture look. I have two customers right now that are interested in that look? Just started messing with some pre- view samples.
Also how large of bit can I run in my spindle? I am thinking about using a 2" core box bit to try to reproduce the texture I am trying to get.

Kevin,
I have used 3" barley twist bits in my PC router with no problem.

Thanks Jack
You know how that is. It always seems a little scary. Thanks for the Help.

Kevin,
I just finished a job with my legacy ornamental mill with a 3" barley twist in a PC router. I set the router to 16000 rpm and it did a great job.

Kevin,
I don't think you need to be concerned about the fact that its a large bit. If it was so unsafe they wouldn't make them. Just don't try to take a .5 depth cut in one pass.
Also you are only using a smaller portion of the bit in the actual cut.
Terry,
I also have a Legacy. I'd like to see this last job you did with a barley twist. Here is a 3" barley twist (left/right) that was done(on the shopbot) with a 2 pass toolpath that was
at least .5 deep just to show kevin that he shouldn't be concerned about deep cuts with big bits, but to do it carefully.
