shoot it my way. jseiler@bluemarble.net (mailto:jseiler@bluemarble.net)
are you looking for a lithophane, or what?
John
Thanks John.. I think I will carve it in walnut for them. I dont have any lithopane Ill either use walnut, or something light colored with a 1/16 or 1/8 ball nose.
I have been working on trying to make a decent relief with this for 2 days now and no luck

what software do you use, and what kind of relief are you looking for? I might not be the right guy for converting a 2d pic into full on 3d (I'm terrible at that...engineer, not an artist), but I can quickly get you decent line drawing, v carving files or maybe something else.
got the file, about to start playing...

ok, i'm not having much luck here. I did manage to take the file given, increase the resolution to clean up the edges enough to separate the fur from the carpet. I followed that by using intelligent scissors with gimp to get just lulu on a white background. I did manage to create some interesting line drawings that could be recreated using a fine line bit and filling with darker wood putty. I recently posted about a clock I made using this method.
3d isn't my forte, but I gave it a shot.

I'm not sure but, I believe EnRoute will do some type of 3d or texture from a .jpg, .bmp, etc.
I don't have enroute though.

Danny send me the pic and I will see what can be done with it.
