Yesterday i had a complete hardrive failure and lost everything. I was using 3.5 beta control software. I noticed a few problems that i hadn't before. The prox switches don't seem to work anymore. The light comes on at the switch on the rail but it doesn't stop the carriage. I raised the bolt up a bit with same results. This was prior to HD failure. I installed new HD, installed ver 3.5.3 from this link:
http://www.shopbottools.com/files/Setup_sb3_5_3.exe. I have a prt alpha 96 with an indexer.

Now I can't get it to recognize that the shopbot is connected and tried to run the firmware update with no luck. Also Where before it recognized X,Y,Z,A,B it now only shows me x,y,z.

I had this problem before when upgrading to 3.5 beta so a call to support will probably cure that part but because it is a new install of operating system my hunch is that the drivers for the ports are not installed to be able to recognize the ports or anything attached...although in device manager it recognies my flash drive connected to a port.
Any advice?

Hi Jack

Try downloading the USB driver from here http://www.shopbottools.com/drivers.htm
after installing that then try your firmware install first and then you will have to go thru the sopbot setup etc.

After installing the driver for the USB to serial adapter Stephan posted about above, if you still have trouble check the following...

What port is the ShopBot controller connected to?

Mine is connected to USB Port 3 and the default config on the software is 4. I just have to change from 4 to 3 each time and all is well.

You will also have to "turn on" the 4 axis as standard is only 3.
