I just got home from the Grand Rapids show and was looking into ArtCam. I was impressed with what it can do. They want $1500 for three days instruction on how to use their software with a bot. I'm new to botting. Is the instruction worth the $ or can I learn it on my own? Thx for your input.

Hi Todd

You might want to check out V Carve Pro from vectric it costs a fraction of artcam ,it is a lot easyer to learn and you can do a lot of the stuff artcam dose.

Todd,
If you want to get a good overview of ArtCAM's tools and where & how to use them, then attend the class. If you need to get up and running quickly, it can really pay for itself in spades and eliminate much frustration. Learning ArtCAM is an ongoing process, and even after 5 years of using it everyday, I am still learning new tricks. If you have a lot of time on your hands, then you can certainly learn on your own. It comes down to what kind of learner you are. Personally, I like live instruction over a manual any day.

Hi Todd
My father has some movies he made over the years when he was training shopbotters.
I am in the process of editing his movies he made when he gave a class in San Marcos last weekend; he makes it look so simple.
The training he gave was basic 3D modeling from 2d objects.
If you think this might help you give him a shout.
