    Default Speeding Up 2.5D Carving on 60 lb. Foam

    I need to speed up production cutting some ornate acantha leaf trim molding. Currently, I'm using a preset speeds and feeds set up in Fusion 360. Running a 2.25" wide 8 ft length of this trim is taking 5 1/2 hours. Chip load looks okay, but wondering if I can ramp up s&f's to shorten the time to mill this stuff. I don't ever really work with architectural foam, so that's why I'm asking you guys.

    Current set-up:
    ShopBot PRS Alpha ATC w/ HSD spindle
    Speeds: 15,000 rpm
    Feeds: X & Y 1.75 in/s, Z .625 in/s
    Bit: Freud 1/8"D ball end mill 2-flute

    You need to match your xyz speeds, your cnc can only go as fast as your slowest speed when moving in multiple axis. Learned from GCNC

    Damn....Maybe that's why it's going so slow! The slower z axis feed rate came out like that when post processing. Let me play around with that and see if it helps. I'm also thinking about ramping up to 18k rpms and going with about .005 chip load, based on calcs should be around 200 in/min

    Also check out Brady's thread;

    Changing my VR settings to his "Standard 3D Tweak" ,has saved me up to 35% without going any more aggressive on some of my carvings.
    If my usual carvings were bigger than Tiny...I'd probably try more aggressive settings on the Desktop, but my small stuff was just too jerky for my taste.
    I need to play more with settings for medium sized stuff soon though.
